Black Swan is a refuge and farm at the threshold of Patagonia, on a peninsula held by the Río Cruces and the Valdivian rainforest. Here, we grow food, exchange knowledge, create, play, and learn to live more freely.
The land is not a backdrop. It is the first teacher.
What sovereignty means here
Black Swan Club is being developed as a Chilean nonprofit membership association for learning and practical experimentation around individual and collective sovereignty.
For us, sovereignty is not isolation or control. It is the capacity to care for ourselves, one another, and the living systems we depend on. We apply this idea across human needs, from soil, food, water, and energy to health, belonging, knowledge, culture, and creation.
The whole human
We use human needs as a practical map, from the systems that sustain life to those that support belonging, knowledge, and creation. We put these questions to work on the farm and share what we learn.

Conservation & regeneration
At Black Swan, conservation and regeneration guide a long-term move toward greater self-sufficiency without depleting the land. Soil, water, forest, wetlands, and biodiversity define both the possibilities and the limits.
What the Club is being developed to do
Members and invited contributors will come together around questions that shape how we live. Their work will be grounded in real-world conditions and documented so others can build on what proves useful, including approaches that strengthen practical capability and may be economically viable.
Test ways to produce food and energy, regenerate soil, protect water and biodiversity, and care for the farm with fewer outside inputs.
Turn knowledge into field trials, working methods, and practical skills that can be assessed and shared.
Explore the human and cultural dimensions of sovereignty with artists, researchers, writers, musicians, and makers.
Create the time and place for members and invited contributors to work deeply on a defined question.
Share learning beyond the farm and build relationships gradually with local people and communities who choose to participate.
Gatherings
Member-led gatherings will bring practitioners, families, and local and international contributors together around a defined question, combining exchange with practical work.
In residence
Members will help shape residencies for artists, researchers, educators, makers, and land practitioners around defined questions. Each residency should contribute a finding, method, planting, performance, prototype, lesson, or other trace.
A shared archive taking shape
A seed. A recipe. A method. A conversation. A piece of music. A new relationship. What is learned will become part of a shared physical and digital archive. This allows the next person to begin further ahead. We believe that each step toward greater sovereignty can improve our chances of living happier, more resilient, and more sustainable lives.
The farm and its living context
Black Swan lies along the Río Cruces near the northern edge of Patagonia, within the wild landscape of the Santuario de la Naturaleza Carlos Anwandter.
Here, the health of the land sets the pace for everything that follows.
